Jumbo Installation Guide
Requirements
Jumbo can run on any operating system equipped with the following (most up-to-date hosts should be suitable):
- PHP 5.0+
- SQLite3 (recommended, but works on regular SQLite)
- Apache should run scripts as superuser (E.g. with SuPHP)
- At least 10 MB of webspace
- Up-to-date JavaScript and Cookies-enabled browser (Internet Explorer 8+, FireFox 3+, Google Chrome, Opera 8+)
- Flash player
As mentioned above, to edit your website using Jumbo, it is recommended that you use an up-to-date browser with cookies enabled - These requirements do not apply for the actual website that is produced by Jumbo.
If you would like to run Jumbo under your localhost in Windows, we recommend you use the latest version of Wamp
For Linux, we recommend using LAMPP (XAMPP).
During the Jumbo setup process (/jumbo/setup.php), it will ask you for your host username and password - On localhost, typically, the username will be 'root' and the password field should be left blank.
If you are having problems with your installation, you may need to tweak your configuration settings.
Instructions
You can install Jumbo in a number or ways. One of the easiest methods (not the fastest) is as follows:
- Download the 'jumbo_files': Download Jumbo
- Unzip it on your computer
- Inside the unzipped 'jumbo_files' folder, there should be a folder called 'jumbo'.
Transfer the 'jumbo' folder and its content to the root directory of your host using an FTP client of your choice such as CoreFTP or FileZilla - Once all the files have been uploaded, type in your hosted domain name followed by /jumbo/setup.php in your web browser. Jumbo works best with an up-to-date browser such as the latest version of Mozilla Firefox.
- Follow the prompts - At one point it will ask you to upload an initial template; or you can use the default one provided if you don't have the time to make your own
